Centaurs RFC

About Centaurs RFC

Centaurs RFC ceased playing competitive league rugby in 2003. Since that date, although still affiliated to Middlesex CRFU and fielding the occasional side to play friendlies, the club has primarily become an association of past players and supporters. With regard to governance we continue to hold an AGM every year at which time our audited accounts are presented to the meeting and officers elected to fill each of our 4 administrative posts (President, Chairman, Treasurer and Sommelier). You will find the minutes of our most recent AGM on the Members Information page of this web site.

The Club organises several events (primarily lunches) every year which are attended by both members of CRFC whom by definition contribute to the 100 Club together with other past players.

There are 57 past players and supporters in the 100 Club who pay a Standing Order each month in order to have one (£5) or two (£10) entries into a monthly draw for a prize of £100 every month except April and December when the prize is £500. The great majority of the proceeds from the draw are used for charitable purposes. Hitherto we have supported Russell Clark, a past player who suffered a catastrophic injury playing for Centaurs 1st XV resulting in him becoming a wheelchair dependant quadriplegic. With Russell’s sad passing in 2023, we have resolved to choose a charity to support each year at our AGM. At our last meeting, after a vote, the Wooden Spoon children’s charity of rugby was chosen for 2024.

On rare occasions it has been necessary to use a small amount of the proceeds of the 100 Club to cover our administrative expenses which are minimal. We also endeavour to subsidise our events which are normally held in the Sun, Richmond. As well as our members ( 100 Club contributors) all Centaurs past players are encouraged to attend these events when they can meet up with old team mates to re-live past memories.

New (100 Club) members are always welcome, simply email Paul Gibson to obtain our bank details before setting up a Standing Order.

If you have previously played for Centaurs RFC and are not already on our mail list, email Paul Gibson in order to receive our regular email updates (rest assured, we only ever send out blind copies). For more details visit the: Contact Us & Apply to Join page on this site
